Pakistan’s coronavirus count crossed 274,289 with the identification of 1,176 new cases in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health on Monday. Twenty more people died overnight due to coronavirus-related complications, raising the death toll to 5,842, he added.
Sindh registered the highest number of 118,311 cases , followed by 92,073 cases in Punjab, 33,397 cases in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 14,884 cases in Islamabad, 11,601 cases in Balochistan, 2,034 cases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and 1,989 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan. To date, the authorities have performed 1,890,236 tests, including 22,056 tests in the last 24 hours, to detect coronavirus.
According to the Ministry, the situation of coronavirus in the country is improving with an rise in the number of recoveries and a decline in new cases. For the total for 274,289 cases, including 1,176 new patients, 241,026 recovered, representing 87.87 per cent. Currently there are 27,421 active incidents, the Ministry said.
