WhatsApp Rolls Out Always Mute Feature For Both Android, iOS Platforms

Popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp has rolled out the ‘Always Mute’ button. The feature was in talks for months. It lets users mute chat alerts forever. The Facebook-owned company has made the feature available for group chats. The Always Mute feature was spotted first in the WhatsApp beta updates. The new option will help people to mute annoying group alerts on WhatsApp forever. WhatsApp had earlier a similar feature. But it didn’t let users mute the sound forever. The company provided the users with options to mute for eight hours, one week, and one year. The company has replaced the one year option with Always Mute.

WhatsApp has added the feature to its both Android and iOS apps. The company tweeted from its official account to appraise the users about the new feature. To access the Always Mute button, users will require going to the group first they want to mute forever. After opening the chat, now tap on the group’s name. Under the group info, users will get the three Mute options. If a user selects the Always Mute option, he/she will not receive any notification from the concerned group. The company has also provided a button to unmute. Users can unmute whenever they want. Besides iOS and Android, this new feature is also available on the WhatsApp Web.

WhatsApp has been testing a series of new features for a long. The company recently introduced an Advanced search option. The new feature helps users in searching for files accurately through their media. For its beta users, WhatsApp added a new Storage Usage UI. Meanwhile, WhatsApp is believed to be testing another feature to allow users to report bugs directly. The company is developing an in-app support feature for the same. It is also preparing to bring support for the face to unlock feature. Reports say that the messaging app is also bringing a feature like Skype and Zoom. It will allow one to join the ongoing calls even after missing it.
